Kim
for the quirky and unconventional ones!
01 / jon & julia
When Julia showed me her moodboard over zoom, I knew this wedding was going to be different cause we share the same aesthetic! I saw my pinterest board come to life, featuring my dream vendors I absolutely adored and felt this sense of inspiration to shoot - driven especially by how bold this wedding's colours were! But it wasn't just the colours that were loud, it was also their energy and emotions that carried us through from 5.30am to 11.30pm. It was one big colourful celebration, and I'll be the first to admit I didn't want to walk out of that dance floor cause photos of people dancing and singing their hearts out are some of my fav fav fav moments! I vote yes to colourful weddings, yes to broadway level vocal performances, and yes to afterparties always!
AT CHURCH OF HOLY SPIRIT AND ALKAFF MANSION

02 / Tristan & Isabella
I love when couples are open to my crazy ideas - like when we did a spontaneous groom-to-groomsmen bouquet toss since everyone was around to watch the bridesmaids get their shot! It's also the quirky unplanned bits of a day that I love capturing - the overly excited neighbours and the void deck moonwalks to the car! This wedding had all the fun and tears - like when they went up for this father-daughter dance before Uncle handed Isabella over to Tristan for their first dance, that made me cry immediately! I haven't seen one in my six years of shooting and it felt so special seeing people come out of their seats to watch from the center aisle (& cry alongside us)!
AT AMK METHODIST CHURCH & PARKROYAL MARINA
03 / Scarlet & jin An
My pick for this set has to include Jin An telling everyone how big his love is for Scarlet with his arms stretched wideeeeee and tears flowing down his face during their couple speech! I found myself not knowing whether to laugh or cry, and turned around to see all their families and friends doing the same - trying to stifle a laugh cause it's adorable to watch but also hold back tears cause the sentiment of his words were so moving to hear! Minjiang has to be one of my fav venues to shoot at - few locations have got an outdoor lawn option to take photos at, and also an equally aesthetic interior should it rain!
AT MINJIANG AT DEMPSEY
04 / Cheryl & Isaac
The pastel bridesmaids dresses in front of her pastel pink condo, and her guests decked out in red at Red House are some of my favourite coincidental shots that no one could have planned for! And that's what I love about weddings, in the frenzy and the chaos some things fall into place and I'm always keeping an eye out for it. We had a few nonconventional wedding moments - family time with the groom and his parents is something we rarely have an opportunity to do (usually only the brides get a moment with their parents during veiling) and I'm glad we did so for this! Other moments include the bride and groom leading worship themselves (so cool?!), and the groomsmen enthusiastically springing up on me with their anime outfits at the end of the dinner banquet asking if I could take a recreated scene for them! It was like a voluntary mini gatecrash to wrap the day up!
AT RED HOUSE SEAFOOD GRAND COPTHORNE

05 / Matt & Abby
Old condos are so charming! They have got that chalet-like features - a ton of common outdoor space, empty roads we can use for bridal party photos, and architecture that allows for interesting compositions like Abby's ahma saying bye from her kitchen just by the car! While people focus on choosing the right venues for their weddings, their homes to me holds an equal part in being a space to photograph and make the most of especially if that's where you've lived for the bulk of your life!
I love that Matt made Abby do a couple of spins during their first look while genuinely admiring how good she looks in this tailored blue dress (yay to more nonconventional wedding choice!) cause we saw that move again as they did the most fun march in I've ever seen at night! To be yourself is what we asked for, and I'm glad I've got some of the most fun and quirky couples out there!
